THE SEVEN TRUTHS: THE PRACTICE

The SHOMI Method® is based in the following Seven Truths, which create a bridge between you and your authentic self when practiced daily.

1st Truth: The Human Body Holds Infinite Wisdom
The Practice: Listen To Your Body

Feelings are energy and information, our body’s most direct and primal form of communication. Every event, experience and emotion registers as a feeling (or complex of feelings) in your body. Every feeling communicates some essential truth. Listening to your body is essential for your healing, growth and awakening. When feelings are suppressed, ignored or misinterpreted, they return with increasing energy, in more painful or disturbing forms, until they can no longer be ignored. The body never lies, and feelings always "win" in the end. Learn to listen to your body. It will tell you truths that will help you survive, heal, grow and awaken. This is where the magic begins.

2nd Truth: Energy Doesn’t Lie
The Practice: Move Your Body

Most of us learned early on to avoid painful feelings by escaping into our heads. When our mind disconnects from our body we are temporarily dead from the neck down. And that’s no way to live. The 2nd Truth integrates our mind, body and feelings through conscious, expressive action. What we feel and fully express is released, along with tension, negative emotions and trauma trapped in our body. This "clears the channels" for fuller awareness and expression of our authentic self. In the 2nd Truth we learn to express and explore, rather than repress and ignore our feelings. We learn to embody our truth in each moment. We unite our mind, body and feelings as essential allies in our waking up process. And we discover that the feelings and energy in our body are the best medicine there is. And it’s available all of the time.

3rd Truth: A Clear Body Channel Holds the Highest Truth
The Practice: Put Only Good Things In Your Body

Born as whole and complete spiritual beings, our exquisitely designed body–mind–spirit has direct access to all the energy, awareness and truth we need to live at optimum health in all areas. But, painful childhood experience often disconnects us from our self. Most of us cope by suppressing or avoiding painful emotions. Poor diet and substance abuse are common coping strategies that indicate and reinforce disconnection from self. And whatever we put into our bodies reflects and affects our relationship with our self. The ideal is to only put into our body what nourishes and energizes it, not what harms and depletes it. Easier said than done. The 3rd Truth helps us to recognize and heal the unaddressed issues and emotions beneath our unhealthy habits, clearing our channel and aligning our body and mind and spirit to create a solid foundation for life.

The Mind is a Wonderful Servant but a Terrible Master
The Practice: Put Only Good Thoughts in Your Mind

The mind is no oracle, no CEO meant to run the show. Before waking up, our mind tends to serve the conditioned programs we are trying to wake up from, and our "system" tends to reorganize itself around our most persistent lower thoughts. Before waking up, our mind uses thinking to avoid feeling, lives in projected past and future scenarios, and rationalizes unhealthy, dysfunctional habits, behaviors and relationships. The 4th Truth practice clears our mind of toxic, negative thinking. As our awareness expands, we no longer confuse our mind with our self, mistake beliefs for facts, or believe everything we think. We access wisdom, inspiration and guidance within. We become present. Our thinking, our behavior and our life change for the better. And we begin to notice synchronicities, to hear the language of Spirit, and to experience the magic that is within and all around us.

5th Truth: You Are the Sum Total of the 5 Closest People that You Associate With
The Practice: Surround Yourself with Supportive People

In the 5th Truth we inquire into relationships, which can reflect and support our awakening as our authentic self, or reinforce our lack of awareness and our false self. As we wake up, we require healthy, authentic relationships that match who we are and support who we’re becoming. We start to notice the quality of our relationships. Are they healthy, energizing, stressful, depleting? Do they support and uplift us? Limit and define us? We notice how we cooperate with what doesn’t work, and how we use relationships to avoid painful feelings and issues. We recognize unconscious agreements we've made with people in our lives and begin to re–assess, heal and renegotiate relationships, consciously choosing who we participate with, and under what conditions. Doing this may upset family, friends, lovers, acquaintances, apple carts and balances of power. But do it we must!

6th Truth: Your Life Purpose Is Your North Star on Your Journey
The Practice: Keep Your Eye On The Ball

Our life purpose is an essential truth around which to reorganize our system. When we do this, we stand on a solid foundation, energized, renewed and inspired. In the 6th Truth we discover and address common fears separating us from our life purpose – fears that our life purpose may involve hard work with no guarantee of success; may require us to make uncomfortable or stressful life changes; may disturb key relationships, or turn our life upside–down. We may fear making commitments and taking risks, or feel inadequate or unworthy to claim our life purpose. These ego fears keep us in the places where we’re stuck or asleep. And our life purpose does disrupt our comfort zone. Because it is a call from our authentic self to awaken, to fulfill our potential and make our greatest contribution to life.

7th Truth: You Have Unlimited Access to a Power Greater than Yourself!
The Practice: Pray for Guidance

As an infant instinctively longs to be held by its mother, our spirit longs to commune with and return to Source, Reality or God. Looking at an infant, it’s obvious that we were born in bliss. And to bliss we long to return. It’s how we’re wired. Ancient mystics and quantum physics agree that an intelligent power pervades the cosmos and connects all living things in a universal Web of Life. All spiritual traditions point to an Ultimate Source as the highest truth around which to reorganize our system. The 7th Truth encourages a practice of daily prayer and meditation to support our awakening. Such practices deepen our connection to a Divine Source of life, power, wisdom, guidance, grace and love that lives in each of us and is everywhere around us. This is what we wake into as we wake up.
